The Iyare family originates from the Benin Kingdom (also called Bini). Today the Benin Empire is part of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Iyare families have villages that directly link the ancestors from generation to generation.
Some Iyare family members are living in villages, some are in other parts of the country with the majority in Benin city, the capital of Edo State. Few are abroad in continents of Europe, South America and North America. The Oba Palace is the central core of Iyare customs and tradition. The institution remains as the base of our inspiration and identity.
